The leader's stumble away from home, Vasco's victory in the Rio derby and the defeat of the Copa do Brasil finalists mark the weekend of the 23rd round of the Brazilian championship.

After the Brazilian championship was paused for the first games of the Amarelinha in the World Cup qualifiers, the 23rd round of the Brasileirão began on Wednesday with the contenders for the Copa do Brasil title. Flamengo traveled to Cariacica, Espírito Santo, to face Athletico Paranaense and São Paulo went to Porto Alegre to face Internacional at Beira-Rio.  

At the Kleber Andrade stadium, ES, the Athletico-PR dominated the game and built the score of 0x3 away from home against Flamengo, with goals from Cacá, Alex Santana and Vitor Bueno, the red-black team from Paraná reached 7th place with 37 points. Botafogo remains in the lead with 51 points, but sees the gap narrow to 7 points.
